Accessory set for sewing jeans. The set includes 2 strong metal zippers, 5 assorted jeans needles from Schmetz, 1 spool of heavy-duty thread for decorative stitching, and 1 spool of matching sewing thread.

The denim thread from Saba is made of core-spun polyester. The thread provides a uniform and durable decorative stitch. Denim thread is thicker than regular sewing thread, so decorative stitches stand out clearly. However, if the thread is too thick, many sewing machines may struggle to sew an even decorative stitch. And an uneven decorative stitch doesn’t look very appealing…

The thread thickness of regular sewing thread is usually 120, while the denim thread in our set has a thickness of 50. We have tested thread thicknesses up to 30, but prefer the thickness 50 of Saba thread. It clearly gave the most beautiful, even decorative stitches, regardless of which machine we sewed on.

You are familiar with the thread color from classic jeans. The orangish-golden color complements classic denim blue. Complementary colors support each other, so both colors stand out clearly. Just as you want classic decorative stitches on jeans.

You should use the denim thread as the top thread in your decorative stitches. For the bobbin thread, use high-quality regular sewing thread. Your sewing machine cannot handle thicker bobbin thread.

The set’s core-spun polyester thread from Gütermann is of completely normal thickness 120. The thread on the inside of the pants is not visible, but nevertheless we think it’s nice that it matches the decorative stitches. Therefore, we have made sure that the thread colors match, so your jeans will look great both inside and out.

For decorative stitches in jeans, we always use Schmetz jeans needles. The reinforced needle can handle sewing multiple layers of heavy denim without breaking or bending. The distance between the needle’s eye and the needle tip is designed to easily penetrate the fabric precisely. This ensures a completely straight decorative stitch that neither veers slightly from side to side nor skips stitches. The needle tip is slightly rounded to protect the threads in the fabric instead of cutting them.

The package contains a total of 5 jeans needles: Two size 90/14, two size 100/16, and one size 110/18. Choose a size that fits your denim fabric, and remember to regularly change the sewing needle. A damaged sewing machine needle will ruin your fabric.

The set’s YKK zippers measure 12 and 15 cm. The two lengths are standard for regular jeans and high-waisted jeans, respectively. The zipper’s teeth and puller are made of durable metal. The fabric in the zipper is classic denim blue.
